The 1995 Generation Change
by sloppyjoe2 ini was just a teenager and have a vivid memory of sitting in a chair doing a microphone for the sunday meeting.
everyone was commenting that it didn't mean the end was far off, and it didn't change the condition of the dead, or the 144,000, or the trinity so we should still remain faithful.
this is my first memory as a kid being just a teen that i ever had a single doubt.

I wouldn't put it past this cult to change anything at anytime. The 1914 doctrine is a core teaching but it's getting them into too much trouble. I could see them changing the blood doctrine and making it a conscience matter. The last thing I would imagine they change or alter is their disfellowshipping policy. -

How Many JWs actually Watch JW.TV?
by Oubliette ini'm curious.
what do you know from your own experience and talking to other active jws?
i know from my own informal, non-scientific survey that most jws do not watch jw.tv.

Since being DF'd and separated, I have started celebrating holiday. For mother's day, I went to my wife's house to make breakfast for her and the kids, and then clean up the kitchen spotless. She requested a mother's day gift: a Roku3. Go figure, a JW requesting a mother's day gift! I knew exactly what she wanted it for, to watch JWTV. Since then, she has been watching it with the kids for family worship night, so says my 8 year old son. Kinda hoping all the nonsense wakes her up.
BTW, the final straw for my family in dealing with me is when I sent a mass text message to them that said JWTV = 700 Club. I got text messages back stating to never call, text, or email ever again. Wow, no response ever to texts that said I love and miss you, but immediate responses to the 700 Club text message. Yeah, I was probably playing with a hornets nest but someone had to say it.

Much like when Jesus asked the Pharisees of the baptism of John was from God or men, and they refused to answer, I posed a similar question to the elders in my JC.
I asked them: so if they taught of an appointment for 90+ years that Jesus Christ himself made, and it never happened, did that appointment come from Jehovah or men?
crickets...... They refused to answer it and did not make eye contact with me. Classic and epic!

*** w13 7/15 p. 8 par. 19 “Tell Us, When Will These Things Be?” ***
In review, what have we learned? In the beginning of this article, we raised three “when” questions. We first considered that the great tribulation did not begin in 1914 but will start when the United Nations attacks Babylon the Great. Then, we reviewed why Jesus’ judgment of the sheep and the goats did not begin in 1914 but will occur during the great tribulation. Finally, we examined why Jesus’ arrival to appoint the faithful slave over all his belongings did not occur in 1919 but will take place during the great tribulation. So, then, all three “whens” apply to the same future time period—the great tribulation. How does this adjusted view further affect our understanding of the illustration of the faithful slave? Also, how does it affect our understanding of other parables, or illustrations, of Jesus that are being fulfilled during this time of the end? These important questions will be considered in the following articles. To me, that is an admission that they were never appointed over all Christ's belongings in 1919. They do still claim to have been appointed over the domestics in 1919, and outline what the domestics entail, which is basically everything here on the earth. Sounds like a "cover your ass" to me.

When I was disfellowshipped for the second time, it took 2 years and 5 letters requesting reinstatement for me to finally get reinstated. Had I been denied for the 5th time, I was ready to give up forever. This was back in 2003. Looking back, I wish I had that 5 rejection. -

Isn't that what they use to deter people from escaping prison?
by dubstepped inthe title is what a person today told me as i was explaining the changes i've seen and made in fading from the watchtower.
he got a smile on his face and asked that question about watch towers being manned with men in guns to prevent people from escaping prison.
man, i never thought about it like that, but he nailed it with such a simple observation.

What gets me that that their blackmail is touted as an honorable way to get someone to come back to Jehovah, aka the truth, aka the organization, aka the cult. -

Seems like there are a few on this thread my age, 36 now, so I was 16 when this doctrinal change happened. I was 32 when the overlapping generation change happened. And I was 35 when they admitted they they were NOT appointed in 1919 over all Christ's belongings. All three changes flew over my radar.
I do remember being at a Circuit Assembly in 2010 when it was time to review the WT article with the overlapping change and seeing many overjoyed and talking about it afterward. I was kind of in a state of shock on the whole thing and seeing a sister actually cry out in joy for this change, but thought nothing of it afterwards. I guess I was just a sleep walking JW for 20+ years who used critical thinking for everything else in life except when it came to my own religion.
After I started waking up in 2014, and started realizing that I had been duped, it immediately came to me: Wait a minute! They admitted in 2013 that they were NEVER appointed by Jesus. Sooooooooo, for over 90 years, they taught AS TRUTH of an appointment by Jesus himself that never happened???!!!
It was like cognitive dissonance slapping me into reality.
